Why these: each one ranks by strength and was updated in launch week (from October 28, 2026). Each counts once, the majority decides, and a split goes to the lower tier. Closed-beta snapshots, pre-launch estimates and reroll-priority lists are not used. Last checked Oct 30, 2026.

Every change to this tier is logged in the changelog.

Great Sword on the weapon tier list (A)

✓ Role and weapon match the official website (checked Oct 29, 2026). Rarity, element and how to get are not listed there (not officially confirmed).

Other Assault Adventurers

The kit, in short

Pyro deliberately takes punishment and turns it into power, then cashes it in with huge Great Sword blows.

Summarised from the official description.

The Assault class

Assault is the damage class. On hunts, Assault Adventurers fight alongside a Palico Buddy that adds bursts of damage.

Every Adventurer also feeds the squad's shared energy for the Co-Op Skill, which only lands when the whole squad hits the same monster part within a short window.

Pyro's skills explained

Exclusive Trait Robust Physique
+20% damage while airborne.
Co-op Skill Peerless V-Slash
Buddy jumps onto the blade for a chain of slashes ending in a joint upward cut; restores stamina on hit; hitting the co-op focus part advances co-op phase.
Skill 1 Heat Tackle
Forward tackle with Unwavering. Parrying an attack raises Fervor Level by 1 and cuts 2s off the next Skill 3 charge. Fervor drops back to 1 if Pyro isn't being attacked.
Skill 2 Reckless Charge Slash
Directional rush attack that follows into Raging Leaping Slash; can cancel charges and Skill 3. Basic Attack afterwards continues the combo according to Fervor Level.
Skill 3 Fortifying Slash (Burst)
At Fervor Level 3, a downward strike; hold to charge with Unwavering. Getting hit, or reaching full charge, unleashes True Fortifying Slash (sword launch and slam) for heavy damage. The 2s charge reductions from other skills do not stack.
Squadmate Skill Fortifying Follow-Up
When the Main Adventurer or any Ultimate suppresses the monster, deals heavy severing damage. 40s cooldown.
Ultimate Blazing Fury
Forward thrust; if it connects, he spins for a series of hits. Unwavering throughout.
All 10 Insights

  • Inferno: Overload: Ultimate gains an extra large-area hit; if it lands, skill damage +25% for 15s. (30 pts)

  • Rampage: Parry hits (Skill 1) and Skill 3 hits heal him; also 0.5% of damage dealt converts to health, capped at 40. (30 pts)
  • Fleeting Strike: After a perfectly timed charged Basic Attack slash, dragon damage +40% for 15s. (30 pts)
  • Fatal Blow: Fortifying Slash damage +30%; True Fortifying Slash damage +60%. (30 pts)
  • Power Charge: Ultimate charge rate +5%. (10 pts)
  • Hunting Spirit: Damage dealt +5%. (10 pts)

  • Harmony: All elemental resistances +8%. (5 pts)

How to play Pyro

  1. Release charged attacks on time. Holding the charge too long lowers the damage.
  2. Raise Fervor with Charged Slash, Heat Tackle parries and Skill 2 follow-ups. At Fervor 3, go into Fortifying Slash.
  3. Keep landing hits: every hit shortens the charge time of True Fortifying Slash.
  4. Use Skill 2 to cancel a charge, and Skill 3 when you need to get out.
  5. Start the first charge at the edge of the head or a foreleg so it lands as the monster turns. Taking hits fuels him, but it does not replace blocking and dodging.

Good matchups: Anjanath, Rathalos, Ruger Aidal.
