Monster Hunter Outlanders Gacha Guide
Yes, Monster Hunter Outlanders is a gacha game: you recruit Adventurers with Contracts. It is free to play, has no direct PvP, and the developers say every Adventurer can be earned without paying.
Currencies and Contracts
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Rutacoins | The premium currency, earned in play and sold in the shop. Exchange them for Contracts. 150 Rutacoins per Contract, or 160 per pull when pulling directly on a banner (not officially confirmed). |
| Featured Contract | Pulls on Featured (limited) banners, such as the current Midori banner. |
| Standard Contract | Pulls on the Standard and Beginner banners. It cannot be used on the Featured banner. |
| Supply Vouchers | Come from recruiting. Trade them for Contracts, up to 5 per month. |
| Zenny | Ordinary in-game money. Not used for recruiting. |

- Standard banner: the permanent pool of non-limited SSR Adventurers and Buddies.
- Beginner banner: uses Standard Contracts at a discount, with a guaranteed SSR within 50 pulls (closed-beta figure, not officially confirmed).

Is Monster Hunter Outlanders pay to win?
Not in the usual sense. There is no direct PvP, so spending does not let you beat other players. In interviews before launch, the developers said every Adventurer can be earned free and that cosmetics give no stats.
Spending does get you limited Adventurers like Midori faster. That matters if you want the strongest team on day one. It matters much less if you are happy to progress with thefree-to-play team.
