Monster Hunter Outlanders Weapon Tier List

8 weapon types are in the game at launch. In Outlanders each Adventurer is locked to one weapon, except the Fated Adventurer (your own character), who can switch. So this list matters most when you decide what your main character should use.

SCharge Blade
Melee
Switches between sword and axe modes and runs on phials. Axe Mode hits very hard, but this is the hardest weapon to learn. Only the Fated Adventurer can use it, and some sources list 7 launch weapons without it.Fated AdventurerSSB
SHeavy Bowgun
Ranged
Safe damage from range. Switch between Normal ammo for steady damage and Slicing ammo for tails; special ammo is limited but refills.Pepper, Fated AdventurerSSB
SLong Sword
Melee
Mobile combo weapon that fills the Spirit Gauge and rewards well-timed counters. The counter window is forgiving, which makes it a good first weapon.Midori, Ryunosuke, Fated AdventurerSSA
ABow
Ranged
Mobile ranged weapon with coatings and a charge gauge that refills on Perfect Evades. Needs good positioning and stamina control.Luka, Madelyn, Fated AdventurerAAS
ADual Blades
Melee
Fast, aggressive combos with strong element and status buildup. Everything revolves around keeping the Demon Gauge up.Keres, Raya, Haze, Fated AdventurerAAS
AGreat Sword
Melee
Slow, charged hits with huge burst. Tackles let you push through attacks, but a badly timed charge costs you a lot.Pyro, Luxheart, Freya, Fated AdventurerAAA
BHammer
Melee
The only weapon that can stun. Slow, head-focused hits, and getting hit resets your charge.Rhodes, Fated AdventurerBAB
BLance
Melee
Guard and counter, with dash attacks. Very safe, but slow and hard to squeeze damage out of.Arkaya, Ouyang Varen, Fated AdventurerBBA

Page dates: Game8 Oct 29, 2026 · monsterhunteroutlanders.cc Oct 29, 2026 · LDPlayer Oct 28, 2026. Why these: each ranks weapons by strength and was updated in launch week. The majority decides, and a split goes to the lower tier. Last checked Oct 30, 2026.

Roles are separate from weapons

Every Adventurer also has a role: Assault, Disruptor or Support. The developers have said roles are independent of weapon type, so two Long Sword users can play very differently. If you are searching for the "best class", this is the split that matters: the weapon decides how you fight, the role decides what you do for the team. See the team comps page for how to combine them.

More weapon types are coming. In a pre-launch interview the developers said all 14 weapon types from the main series will be added through seasonal updates. This list will be updated as they arrive.
